School Streets
School Streets is a scheme to restrict access to traffic outside some primary schools at opening and closing times.
The East Riding council is restricting access to traffic outside some primary schools at opening and closing times. This will help reduce congestion and improve the local environment.
We are continuing our partnership with Bilton Community Primary School to promote School Streets, a pioneering scheme launched in November 2022 to transform roads outside the school, so that only pedestrians and cyclists can use them at school start and finish times.
Many schools experience traffic-related issues at the start and end of the school day. East Riding of Yorkshire Council have introduced School Streets to address these issues by restricting traffic in the streets outside some schools at drop-off and pick-up times.
